Statement of Faith: The Christian Geology Ministry is an Internet based, independent, Bible study resource website. We believe that the Bible's Genesis accounts of Creation and Noah's flood are absolutely accurate, True and Faithful. Having said that, be advised that we also believe that the vast body of scientific observations (not theories) pointing to an old Earth, are also True and Faithful, as they are based on forensic principles and 'Laws of Nature' established by the Creator God Himself. Our thesis of belief is best summarized by this simple statement:
If the Lord God who created all physical things is the same God who inspired and preserved the Holy Scriptures, then there can be no real contradiction between the literal wording of the Holy Bible and what can be observed in the Earth's geology. Any perceived contradictions MUST be the result of faulty interpretation of either the Word of God, Earth's geology, or both, on the part of men.
For the record, we are a Fundamental, Bible Believing Ministry that upholds the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, who took upon Himself flesh and shed His blood on a cross as atonement for the sins of all mankind, to give the gift of Salvation freely to those who accept Him by faith as the only way to the Father. We believe in the Premillennial Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and a literal 1,000 year future reign of the King of Kings upon this Earth.
The Christian Geology Ministry firmly believes in the absolute authority of the verbally inspired Scriptures. We accept the Hebrew Masoretic Text as the divinely preserved line of Old Testament Manuscripts and the Greek Textus Receptus as the divinely preserved line of New Testament Manuscripts. This position is fully consistent with our acceptance and belief in the accuracy and authority of the King James Bible English language translation.
Mission: It is the intent and mission of the Christian Geology Ministry to show through both Biblical and Scientific arguments and proofs that the current “Young Earth Creationist” movement, however popular and well intentioned, is in error and is misleading the faithful and the lost by rejecting the full counsel of God’s Word. We are firm in the belief that the rightly-divided Holy Bible reveals that the traditional assumption that the Earth, universe, and everything in them were first created only about 6000 years ago is inaccurate in both Scriptural and geological fact. While we agree that that the present “heavens and earth” were made only about 6,000 years ago, in six literal 24-hour days, God’s Word also reveals that what He made in those six days was a replacement heavens and Earth, a regeneration of the original creation of God. Within the context of this doctrine the Holy Bible reveals the full truth and purpose about the ancient origins of Satan and the "sons of God" (the fallen Angels) and how that revelation fits into the time line of Earth's natural history, past, present, and future. We are painfully aware that to openly rebuke the majority of Fundamental Christianity on this particular doctrinal matter will not be welcome in many powerful institutional and private circles, yet to refrain from directing attention to this error would make us remiss in our calling. We deny in the strongest possible terms that such a position is any kind of compromise of the Word of God or concession to an unbelieving secular scientific establishment. These are simply the candid facts of the matter, presented in good faith. As Christians we sometimes must agree to disagree when our individual convictions conflict with those of contrary opinion.
We have found, and do demonstrate through the comparison of Scripture with Scripture, that this doctrine does not contradict or nullify the core doctrines of man’s creation, original sin, and need for salvation through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is dispensational in theology and Premillennial in eschatology. And it most certainly does not support the Theory of Evolution. On the contrary, it explains why the Earth’s geology reveals such an ancient age, as evidenced by the very laws of physics and forensics established by God Himself, without appeals to Evolution, symbolism and allegory, or outright denial of much widely-accepted scientific data for political and social expediency. The Biblical Truth has not changed in modern times, although our understanding of the Earth’s Geology has changed considerably. We are persuaded that the geologic and fossil records are the surviving evidence that God preserved for us to testify to the Biblical truth that the Earth is very old and was inhabited for a long period before the seven days of Genesis chapter one, verse two. This record, written in stone, is a complementary truth to the Bible. Both are from the hand of God and both have been preserved by God to instruct man in wisdom.
Christians who are Geologists know what it is like to have their personal faith tested. On the one hand, they have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and accept the Holy Bible as the True and Faithful Words of the Living God. On the other hand, their scientific training and knowledge about the Earth's geologic history and processes frequently puts them at odds with many Fundamental Christians concerning interpretation of the Book of Genesis. This website Ministry precipitated from my own personal struggle with these issues.
Agreement about Geology and Genesis by most Geologists (Christian or otherwise) is generally limited to this: The first verse of the Bible says that God created the heaven and the Earth. The science of Geology concerns working out the details.
Those details, gained from observation, are not reconcilable with a literal interpretation of the Bible in the context of Young Earth Creationism. Neither is an approach from a Theological Evolutionary perspective. On the surface, all observations seem to run contrary to any workable reconciliation with a literal interpretation of the Biblical narrative. Does this mean the Bible cannot be taken literally in respect to the creation of the heavens and Earth? No. Does this mean that scientific observations are inaccurate in respect to the Earth's age. No. It means you have to dig and drill deeper into both the Word and the geologic record to find the full truth, although you will find it has always been right there in plain view once your eyes are opened to it.
A true interpretation that will reconcile the Genesis narrative with the Earth's Geology does exist because God is the Author of both. God does not lie. Both the Earth's Geology and the Words of the Bible are speaking the truth, but are we really listening to what is being said, by both?
Would the Lord God make all things for the first time only about 6,000 years ago, and then deliberately formulate the laws of physics and chemistry to give it all a false appearance of ancient age when put to the test? Absolutely not! That would make God a liar, in both Word and deed. On the other hand, could the Lord God have regenerated the original creation in six, 24 hour days only about 6,000 years ago, and then tell you both in the Bible and in the Earth's Geology that He did so? Absolutely! That appears to be exactly what the literal wording of the Holy Bible is saying and the geologic record appears to confirm this, when examined in that context. This is a radical departure from both major sides in the Evolution vs. Creationism debate, but the Scriptures and the evidence seem to align when examined in Ruin-Reconstruction interpretative context.
Unless one knows and understands this Biblical truth, observations of the geologic record would only reveal an old earth with an assumed continuum of history. Without that specific piece of knowledge the reason for the abrupt end of the Ice Age, the global Pleistocene extinctions, and other anomalous observations would simply remain unresolved as various theories are formulated in an attempt to fit the evidence. Without knowing the additional Biblical considerations, the fact that human city building and recorded human civilized history only dates back about 6,000 years would just remain an interesting coincidence. Our Bible fills in that knowledge gap, when rightly-divided.
Geologists have the training and expertise to glean the truth about the Earth's historical and physical processes from the things in the Earth itself, using the interpretive and forensic principles of nature. Christians have access, by faith, to an infallible source of Truth to more perfectly interpret and understand the Earth's Geology from a Biblical perspective by applying Spiritual principles. A Christian who is also a Geologist and well grounded in the Word can guide the saved Brethren into better understanding how Genesis and Geology actually compliment each other. You will also be in the better position to witness to lost colleagues and associates who are confused by the mixed signals and inconsistencies from Brethren who champion the Young Earth Creation Science movement. The lost need the clear Scriptural facts, not traditional dogma. Your rightly-divided knowledge about Genesis and Geology might be the determining difference between someone receiving the Lord Jesus Christ, or not. How many have rejected the Lord, because of someone else's well intended but misdirected zeal, will only be known when we all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.
As men and women of both Science and Faith, I ask you to honestly and objectively examine both the Scriptural and geologic evidences presented on this website and prayerfully consider these things in your own personal search for Truth. Then, share what you have learned with others, as the Lord leads. I'm certainly not claiming to have all the answers, but I have a conviction to share what I have learned with others who are also looking for answers.
