Doctrines of Grace

The Doctrines of Grace are important Biblical knowledge for both Rightly-Dividing the Word of Truth and for understanding your personal assurance of Salvation in Christ.

There are three (3) main dispensations in the Bible concerning how God deals with man at different Biblical times. These are the dispensations of the Law (before the cross), Grace (present-time) and the Kingdom (after the Lord returns). Knowing what Grace is (and what it is not), and the difference between the letter of the Law and the Spirit of the Law will help the Christian avoid the traps of legalism and mistaking Kingdom doctrines for Grace doctrines. The latter is extremely important in avoiding heresy when dealing with Jesus's teachings in the four Gospels and context of the time and place in relation to these dispensations. The differences of God's work of Grace concerning dealing with the sinner and God's Grace provided to the saved is also clearly defined and discussed in this work.

The links below are to a complete work "Grace" by the late Lewis Sperry Chafer, D.D. who was President of the Evangelical Theological College, Dallas, Texas; Professor of Systematic Biblical Theology. The work dates from 1922 and is in the public domain. Regardless, it is 100% relevant for the Christian today. It is a very exhaustive and comprehensive study, but well worth the effort. I recommend you bookmark this index and plan to spend a considerable amount of time and prayer ingesting this study.
