Parting of the Red Sea - Take 2
In the book of Exodus, Moses leads the Children of Israel out of Egypt after the plagues are poured out on Pharaoh and the Egyptians. They depart out of Egypt after partaking of the Lord's Passover.
"Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:"
(Exodus 12:5 KJV)
"And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it."
(Exodus 12:7 KJV)
"And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."
(Exodus 12:13 KJV)Following that night, Moses leads the children of Israel out of Egypt to the shores of the Red Sea. And when trapped between the sea and Pharaoh's advancing army, Moses calls upon God and performs a Miracle:
"And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided."
(Exodus 14:21 KJV)To sum up the rest of the story, once the Children of Israel are across the Red Sea and safely on the other side, Moses again stretches forth his hands and God causes the Red Sea to return to its power. The walls of water collapse, drowning Pharaoh and his soldiers. After this happens, the children of Israel rejoice and break out in song to glorify God and His salvation.
"Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea."
(Exodus 15:1 KJV)Fast-forward about fifteen-hundred years later to the night of the Lord's "Last Supper" where Jesus eats the Passover with His disciples. The following day, Jesus dies on the cross and sheds His blood, then rises again on the third day. By doing so, Jesus Himself becomes the true Passover for the Salvation of the whole world.
"Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:"
(1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV)And from that point in history up through this present time, those that have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior are saved for eternity by the Blood of the Lamb of God.
"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
(John 1:29 KJV)With our sins covered by the blood of the Lamb, upon death, we too go to be with the Lord in heaven which is located in the Third Heaven (see 2 Corinthians 12:2). And we get there by passing through that great 'Sea' that is between the second and third heavens. Jesus Himself has already made a spiritual parting of that 'Sea' for the redeemed to Pass over to the other side and into glory. If you are not familiar with the 'Sea' I am talking about, please review the information in our chapter, The Firmament, Third Heaven, and Structure of All Things Biblical. That is currently the relationship between the Lord and the Believer in this Age of Grace.
Now fast-forward to Jerusalem in the future, a place that is called the Great City in the Book of Revelation. At that time, before the coming of the "Day of the Lord" and the great wrath of God, there will still be living Believers of Jesus dwelling on the Earth. They will be eye-witness to the revealing of the Antichrist. We know this because the Apostle Paul, writing to the Church in the book of 2 Thessalonians, gave this prophecy:
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?"
(2 Thessalonians 2:3-5 KJV)At that point, all hell breaks lose upon the Earth. But God has made provision against that time to bring the living Believers of Jesus up and out to safety from the coming wrath. And He does it with a second variation of the 'Red Sea' crossing.
The wicked Great City of the future Jerusalem, found in Revelation, is spiritually likened to ancient Egypt:
"And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."
(Revelation 11:8 KJV)And the Lord Himself will perform the "Red Sea - Take 2 Act" by bringing all the saved living Believers at the time, from Jerusalem and the face of the whole Earth, up through the 'Sea' we previously mentioned and place them safely on heaven's shore, on the other side. In Revelation 15 we read:
"And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled."
(Revelation 15:1-8 KJV)Call it a 'Rapture' or catching away or whatever term you choose to use. The Believer will pass through a 'Sea' that is RED (fire is red).
"And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."
(1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV)Paul tells the, Believer in this present Age of Grace. that Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ has already 'delivered us' (past-tense) from the coming wrath of God. And as you can read, He will also physically deliver (future-tense) those Believers that are still on the Earth at that time from the great wrath of God that will be poured out on the world after the Antichrist commits the ultimate blasphemy.
